Brigadeiros

This is a traditional Brazilian sweet found on every birthday table.  It's so easy to make and the kids can help too!

Ingredients

·      1 can sweetened condensed milk

·      1 tablespoon salted butter

·      2 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa powder

·      Chocolate sprinkles

Directions

Stir condensed milk in a heavy bottomed pot on the stove until boiling and add butter.  Stir until it melts and add cocoa powder.  Stir constantly until it pulls away from the sides of the pan, probably about 10 minutes.  The consistency is like pudding.  Spread it out on a flat tray or dish to cool a bit and when you are able to handle, take small pieces and roll into balls with your hands.  A good tip is to butter your hands first so the milk doesn’t stick.  The balls should about 2 inches in diameter.  Once the ball is formed, roll in the sprinkles until covered and then rest on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper or in little mini muffin sleeves. Once they are cool you can eat them, that is if you can wait!  Store in an airtight container.
